Every night in NSW, more than 37,000 people have no safe place to call home. On the Central Coast, rising rents and limited support services are making a difficult situation even harder.
For many people experiencing homelessness, their pet is their only source of comfort and stability. But with almost no pet-friendly crisis accommodation available, too many people face an impossible choice: get help, or keep their animal safe.
Many choose to stay in dangerous, unstable situations rather than leave their pet behind.
When domestic and family violence is already the number one reason women and children seek emergency housing, that barrier can cost lives.
No one should have to make that choice.
That's why Monti's Mission exists. A collaboration between Coast Shelter, Janarlee Lodge and The STAY Foundation, we take their pet into safe, loving care while they access the refuge and support they need. When they’re ready, we bring families back together.
Because getting safe shouldn't mean saying goodbye.
